The Art Of Marriage

Is there an art to a happy marriage? The Art Of Marriage is a great poem that lists ways to have a happy and long marriage. If you are one of those couples who have been married a long time and made it through all the trials and tribulations that marriage has, then you are probably one of the wisest couples to give marriage advice because you have lived it yourself. If you are not, maybe a well written poem is what you are looking for.

This is also a poem that is one that can remind us of things we should do not matter how long we have been married. Good poems to put in an anniversary card.

This poem would be a great contribution to a wedding card or you could frame this poem as a reminder to the happy couple when times are tough, not to give up but to keep working at it.
Marriage like everything in life has its ups and downs. This poem reminds us of qualities and things we should bring to our marriage.

The Art Of  Marriage
by Wilferd A. Peterson

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.  In marriage the little things are the big things...

It is never being too old to hold hands.

It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.

It is at no time taking the other for granted; the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through the years.

It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives. it is standing together facing the world.

It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family.

It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.

It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.

It is not expecting the husband to wear a halo or the wife to have wings of an angel.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humour.

It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.

It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old.

It is finding room for the things of the spirit. It is common search for the good and the beautiful.

It is establishing a relationship as counseled by Louis K. Anspacher, in which "the independence is equal, dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal."

It is not only marrying the right partner; it is being the right partner.

It is discovering what marriage can be, at its best, as expressed in the words Mark Twain used in a tribute to his wife:
"Wherever she was, there was Eden."

The Canvas Of Marriage
Poet: C. A. Lynch

In the canvas of marriage, an art unfolds,
A story painted, in colors bold.
Is there an art to this sacred bond?
Let's explore, and the answer respond.

Brush strokes of patience, a canvas serene,
With understanding, a masterpiece keen.
Trust forms the palette, colors bright,
Blending love and grace, oh, what a sight!

Communication, the artist's skill,
Expressing emotions, each moment to fill.
Resilience and laughter, hues so grand,
Weaving a tapestry, hand in hand.

Sculpting memories, both big and small,
Crafting a union that will never fall.
Artistry lies in every caring touch,
A successful marriage, a masterpiece clutch.

So, yes, there's an art to this journey of two,
A canvas of love, forever anew.
With dedication and strokes so fine,
A masterpiece of marriage, divine.
